On May 28th, a celebration of 50 glorious years of excellence was thrown in honor of a father, grandfather, friend, pastor and successful entrepreneur based in Houston Texas.
Dr. Kay as he’s fondly called by many, was a repeat client since I had planned his daughter’s wedding at the Sugar Land Marriott two years ago. I worked mainly with the celebrant’s wife who had a clear vision of how she wanted the birthday party to turn out. This made the planning process go smoothly since I already knew their taste from working with the family in the past.
The birthday celebration started with a short thanksgiving service, thanking God for a great 50years. This was held at the Light House Church of God in Sugar Land. Immediately after the service, guests proceeded to the Houston Club in downtown Houston for an hour of cocktails. Hors d’oeuvres were served while guests were entertained by the music of Miss Kijana who sang, danced and interacted with the guests. Guests also made memories in the photo booth that were later scrapbooked as a keepsake for the celebrant.
The Texas room in the Houston Club was the elegant room that hosted the dinner and dance right after the cocktail. The celebrant was announced into the ballroom accompanied by his wife while guests stood up to cheer them in. A musician, a saxophonist, a DJ, a professional juggler & stilt walker were part of the ensemble present to entertain the guests before it was time to dance. The guests had fun dancing to some old school songs and some African music.
Events by Doyin designed and planned the event with the celebrant’s favorite color of black and gold in mind, also putting into consideration that they wanted a lot of glam and glitz incorporated. We had tall floral centerpieces including crystal lamps with flower arrangements on them; warm lighting provided a lovely ambiance inside the room.
I was so happy to be a part of Dr. Kay’s 50th birthday party. Very seldom do you come across people like him. At 50, he’s very successful, has a wonderful wife with intelligent and beautiful kids. He loves to help his community and he’s truly loved and respected by many. Happy birthday once again Dr. Kay.
