Planning your wedding – Themed Weddings

A themed wedding is basically a wedding planned around elements of importance to the couple in a certain style which may be different from a traditional wedding. Themed weddings have been around for a while but there’s been an increase in the number of couples having this kind of weddings nowadays. Themes are a good way to add style and creativity to your wedding and they can set the mood for your entire wedding.

A theme can be as simple as the colors; using the same colors for your invitations, bridesmaid dresses, decorations and cake or it can be apparent themes such as Winter Wonder Land or Fairy Tale which can also be reflected in your invitations, dress codes, decorations, cake etc. No matter what theme you pick, as long as it’s the right one for you, you can be assured of having a direction while planning your wedding.

You’ll know what type of invitation to pick when you visit an invitation vendor. You won’t select a black and blue colored invitation if you’re having a yellow and black color wedding theme. If you want a beach wedding, your venue search will be narrowed down to beaches and you won’t be searching for big ballroom wedding dresses and 5 inch stilettos to wear on the beach.

Many people say they don’t know where to start the wedding planning process from, it’s as simple as thinking about what you and your spouse like and building your wedding around it. Are you wine lovers or do you like to travel? How about a wedding in Napa or a wedding in the Maasai Mara? Whatever theme you pick, make sure it’s compatible with all other aspects of your wedding which is why I always advice people to pick their themes right after the budget is determined. Fit the theme to the budget.

Below are a few of the more popular themed weddings:

Medieval Wedding

Fairy Tale Wedding

Winter Wonderland Wedding

Peacock Wedding

Hollywood Wedding

If you’re getting married and you know what you want but don’t know where to start, reach out to a wedding planner to help incorporate your theme.
